Wilgenhof also has a few internal sports like TET, reckless, kwottie, and wheelies, which ensure that you remain active and focused.

If you want to participate in a sport in which the residence does not participate, be sure to join one of the 29 official sport clubs of the university. Please visit www.sun.ac.za/sport for more information.

Kultuur / Culture

In terms of culture Wilgenhof’s sêr groups, the Kraaie, are very popular. These guys don’t just look good in their gowns, but sing really well. As recently as 2013 they were appointed as Stellenbosch’s Kleinsêr winners and achieved a second place in the National Kleinsêr competition.

Wilgenhoffers are also not afraid of acting and participate annually in the inter-residence theatre competition.

Cultural evening are a regular occurrence on Sunday evenings and it is here where the guys with fine talents have a chance to charm the girls out of their socks.

Gemeenskap / Community

Wilgenhof is very serious about community service and after each exam they have a community project of four to five days.

In June the Kayamandi Outreach with Heemstede Women’s Residence takes place. With this project students go to Kayamandi for four to five days and work with various community interactions organisations to help make a difference.

In November, the G-projek with Sonop Women’s Residence takes place. The G-projek is more flexible than the Kayamandi Outreach and every year a unique project is undertaken. In the past, specific schools and old age homes were identified and support was offered.
